Church History
Broad Street has a long history of being an active and involved congregation in Mineola, Texas. Our church has been meeting for well over 100 years and has been located at our current site since 1954. We would love for you to become a part of our future as we build on what has been given us in the past. .
Our Core
Beliefs
The Bible
We believe that the Scripture, both Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God. It is without error in the original manuscripts, and is our supreme, sufficient, and infallible authority in all matters of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Romans 15:4)
The Trinity
We believe that there is one God who is the Creator of all things, that he is infinite, perfect, and unchangeable, and that he exists eternally in a loving fellowship of three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who are co-existent, co-equal and co-eternal. Each person of the Trinity exercises distinct but harmonious functions in the work of creation, providence and redemption. (John 1:1-4, 14; Matthew 3:16-17)
Work of Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious, bodily resurrection constitute the only ground for salvation. He rose from the dead and sat down at the right hand of God the Father where He continually intercedes for His people as our High Priest and Advocate. (Ephesians 1:7-9; Hebrews 9:11-14; Philippians 2:5-11)
Salvation
We believe all are sinners who fall short of the glory of God and stand hopeless and condemned before Him. The gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again, conquering sin and death, so that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. A sinner is saved by the grace of God, a free gift, through faith, and will receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit upon baptism for the remission of sins. Eternal life is secured for the believer by the effectual and sovereign grace of God. It is the duty and delight of all who believe to love God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength, to abide in Him, to be obedient to His Word, and to seek to live to the glory of God. (Romans 3:23; 1:16; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 8:1; Ephesians 2:8; Acts 2:38)
The Return of Christ
We believe in the personal, visible and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ to be reunited with his bride, the church, and take them to heaven, His eternal kingdom. His followers are to live in expectation of His imminent return and the resurrection of both the saved and the lost — the saved to an endless, joyful, and living reign with Christ, and the lost to eternal separation from the presence of God. Unity of Believers
We believe in the Lords call for unity among his people; patient with each other, bearing with one another in love; accepting each other in the knowledge that “to each one of us grace has been given as Christ has apportioned it.” We recognize that many come to us from different cultures, traditions, practices, and views depending on their church heritage, yet, we will still love each other as part of His family. (John 17:20-21; Colossians 3:12-14; Romans 12:4-8)
The Church
We believe the Church is a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head. From the very beginning, God created a pathway to Himself for all mankind to follow, but in His sovereign wisdom, gave us the choice to accept or reject him. Those who choose to follow Him are marked by love for one another and the exercising of their gifts in His service. It is the Church’s joy and responsibility to fulfill the Great Commission given by our Lord to make disciples of all peoples and nations. (Ephesians 1:22-23; Matthew 16:13-20; 28:18-20; 1 Peter 4:7-11)
